PD170: $3700 list, $3400 retail (includes HG 0.7X wide lens)

PD150: $3700 list, $3100 retail

VX2100: $3200 list, $3000 retail ("Comming Soon")

VX2000: $2800 list, $2350 retail (no wide lens included)

I assume these are NTSC versions.

Any idea about PAL availability and pricing?

PD170 : the evolution continues.........
 

I may be in a position to get a PD170 within the next month.
Do we suppose this price is going to go down further anytime soon?
Is $3400 reasonable for what it is? It isn't that different from what the pd150 went for two months ago, and the wide angle lens is said to be a right piece of glass. I'm excited about this camcorder! Has anyone got one yet and spent any time with it? I know it isn't really anything new, but I'm excited just the same, the PDX10 being the most cam I have owned, to date.

It doesn't seem very reasonable that there's only a $400 difference between the two. Is that right?

The 170 is $300 more than the $150 -- and you get a free $300 wide angle. And lower light capability, larger viewfinder, brighter LCD for outdoor daylight work, zoom on handle (which I've heard can be set to go quite slow). Also LCD monitor and viewfinder work simultaneously; this last one I like. You do get also a lens hood for the wide.
The other day I was pricing a rubber Cavision lens
hood for the Sony telephoto: $85.
I don't expect a drop in price, but who knows.
Does anyone know if the LCD screen resolution has
been changed.
By the way, I see that the 150 is listed as "discontinued"
(no stock) at B&H.

But the PD-150 should have dropped in price a littlebit more. Considering the advantages of the PD170, I would have hoped for a greater difference in price than 300$.

I suppose B&H figured, why lower the price when
people are still buying them at the higher price.

Here in Montreal, the price of the PD-150 and the PD-170 is (or was) the same. Not that it really matters. I just ordered a PD-170 and I will have it this Friday. Today, my vendor (Sono-Video) told me that the PD-170 dropped in price ($122CDN less). Hey I won't complain! But it's no great price decrease either.

PD170 only US$400 more expensive than 2100!?!? AARRGHH! Why? Why!?!
If only we had those prices in Oz..

Actually, the 2100 is going for $2600 now so the price
difference is $800.

Add the cost of an XLR adapter and good wide-angle lens to the VX2100, and the price difference goes down to about $350.
A couple of years ago, B&H was selling the PD150 for $3800.

Yep, Allen. And then you're still dealing with the fragile,
insecure VX minijack. And, you have the increased
weight and bulk of the Beachtek.
If you're planning on using XLR connectors, better off to
just go with the PD right away.
