I want another lens hood

I want to buy another VX2000 lens hood here in PAL England. Not the fancy flapping doors new model - the old, simple kind. Anyone know the cost and where I could order it?

Hi Tom,

I obtained one from Visual Impact (www.visuals.co.uk). They have a Spare Parts section on the website. If you go there and choose Spares Price List and put in the part number: X39505901, you will see they supply them at £36.66 + VAT.

I found the service excellent - the parts were with me next day.

Hope this helps.

Just a little useless fact i noticed the other day...

The new pd170 hood is not the same as the new vx2100 hood. The new pd170 hood is the cool, bigger and i assume better one.

I am sure it would. My VX2100 hood works fine on my DSR-250, which is a shoulder-mount version of the PD-150/VX2000.

I bought a new hood and it makes my VX2k look like new again - I hadn't realised how scuffed the old one had got going in and out of my case so many times.

So I took the old hood apart. The rubber skin slides off the back and the 4:3 aspect blanking plate unscrews when the self adhesive applique has been peeled off to reveal the 4 screws. I then cut the plastic chassis down so that it fits onto my non zoom-through wide-angle converter and behold: I now have a bayonet-on widie that's always aspect-ratio aligned. Important this as I have a Cavision 4:3 hood fitted to the widie at all times.

It really is the biz. I've always hated screwing on a converter in the field - especially when it's a time constrained field such as a wedding. The bayonet fix (wich also has the security of the little locking screw) is quick, easy and secure.
