wavy visual effect (moire pattern)

How can this be corrected when filming people with parallel lines (corduroy, pinstripe, etc.).

Aside from telling your subjects not to wear this things... next to impossible if you ask me! Is there any way to avoid this from happening? Or, perhaps it can be corrected in post?

Can't really be done in post, at least not quickly or if you want to keep your sanity ;-)

Pan slowly, try to keep shots a little wider, if you're outside turn them slightly as the lighting will emphsize or de-emphasize the problem. If outside, use some auxillary light to flatten the pattern, if inside relight the subject to help flatten it OR make them change OR beat them severly about the head and shoulders as you yell, NO MOIRE NO MOIRE NO MOIRE! :-o

Naw, not really (beating them that is) you really want to avoid it as much as possible but sometimes it can't be so you can only do what you can do and move on.

This isn't ideal, but changing the focal length of the shot will eliminate the moire. Of course it will also change your shot, which may not be to your liking. But zoom in or zoom out till the moire goes away.
