VX-2000 Interval Recording/viewfinder off?

Hello all... I am new to the board and it looks to be quite informative.

The subject:
I have a vx-2000 and I am experimenting with the "Interval Recording" feature. I have done a few shots, but I limit them to about 30 min of recording because I am afraid to leave the viewfinder on for an extended period of time.

I cannot find a way to turn it off during the shot and I guess I just feel weird about leaving it on for 6-8 hours. Am I just being overly cautious with this camera or can it handle this no prob?

Maybe there IS a way to turn it off and I have not found it yet?

ANY help is appreciated!
Thanks...Ken

if 'burn in' is a worry then try

opening the LCD,
reduce LCD brightness and
turn LCD B.L. off via the menu
