PD 150, what does the Noise Reduction?

HI,
does anyone know what the noise reduction NR setting does on the PD150? It seems that the Wind setting takes out the lower frequencies (Is that then a low pass / low cut filter, or a high pass filter?), but I can't hear a difference in the settings with the NR setting?
Thanks a bunch,

I'm not certain just what Sony intended here as they have nothing about it in their Operator's Manual.

What it does do is add a ringing to the audio (in my experience) at the end of a distinct sound. That drove me nuts during a voice-over recording I did when the 150 was brand new.

I think this is one option that should have only one selection . . . OFF!
