Is my PD170 working right? re-manual controls

I am still testing out my PD170 and trying to get used to it. Anyways, what I have noticed tonight is that when I go to adjust the gain on my camera, I press the gain button on the back and adjust the amount with the scroll wheel, ok, but if I press the gain button again, it switches to the shutter adjustment, if I press it again, it goes back to the gain adjustment. Is this normal?
Also when I press shutter more than once, it toggles between gain and shutter settings.
The white balance button when pressed more than once toggles between white balance and shutter.
This all seems rather odd!
Is this the way it is supposed to be?

Yep!

It gets confusing at 1st but it all depends on what you have showing. Even now after over 3 years with 2 of them (150's) it still makes me crazy. Sometimes I forget to look closely at the screen to see what I want to adjust and I end up adjusting something else. A little practice and you'll be all good!

Have fun with the new toy,
Don

Thanks!

I was hoping there was nothing wrong with the camera, I guess it's just something I have to get used to.

Thanks again.

Anybody know why it functions this way?

Is it some kind of 'quasi' push auto function? Like if I press gain twice, I am actually letting the camera go into auto mode for the gain?
