Need to show date and time stamp while recording

We have a vx2100. Our company does video depositions We really need to have the date and time show on the screen. We know about the data code playback when making vhs tapes but going to fcp through firewire the time and date are gone. We also record to a dvd recorder for back up at the same time we are doing the actual live tape recording during the depos.
Are there any tricks to make the time stamp appear while recording?
We are using the sony dvd rdr-gx7 recorder . I ws trying to bring up a on screen display while recording to it ..which would solve the problem going to fcp by using the dvd as a source player but so far nothing yet.

I know I can play back from the cam or our dsr-11 player but still no firewire display. I know that I can playback to the dvd with the rca cables and record another disc with the date and time but that would be twice the time and work to do which the boss doesn't like at all.

Any suggestions or work arounds? thanks for any advice .
We might sell the vx and get the gl but if there is a fix for this that would be less of a hassle.

Thanks

We are looking to do the same thing. Does anyone have any ideas here?

wow that was an old post I did.....
Well the 2100 will not do it until it is played back and captured through the rca cables....the Gl2 will do it or the pd 170 or pretty much any other camera but the 2100 ... go figure why they decided to pull that on us. A great camera for depos but not now for real time code recording.

The JVC 5000 is good to use plus you can route the audio and video through to the dvd recorder for back up.

*If* it is an option to use Windows XP or Vista (perhaps via Boot Camp?), our software will do what you are looking for - realtime burning of date/time etc during capture from a DV source.
