Deals on VX2000/PD150

Hey everyone, I'm just starting this thread for people to post any specials they find on VX2000/PD150's in competition with the DVX100. I know JVC is running a special on their DV300U where you get a free TM-A13SU Monitor or 30 DV63PRO DV tapes. So if anyone sees any specials like this for VX2000/PD150s, post 'em here. Thanks.

Howdy from Texas,

As I've mentioned in several other threads that discuss this topic, the single most important and most sensitive question we get asked here is "where to buy."

Normally, I steer potential buyers toward the Community Sponsors who help keep these boards running... not because of their support of the forum, but because they're simply the best, most reputable dealers in the business. Check 'em out at www.dvinfo.net/sponsors

We don't have an authorized Sony dealer for a DV Info Net sponsor yet, but in the meantime my policy is to recommend B&H at www.bhphotovideo.com -- they are the largest camera dealer in the world, and they set the benchmark for pricing in this business.

There are very few topics that I'll ever put a limit on, however the "where to buy" question is the one where I always reserve the right of having the last word. With that said, I'm closing this thread for an important reason: due to the multitude of scam artists out there, the chance is too high of steering someone in the wrong direction even though the intentions were good.

In short, do yourself a favor and avoid the mistake of shopping for the lowest price. Lowest price seldom means best value. Instead, consider buying for best value by choosing a dealer who's going to take care of you, with a solid reputation for support, honesty and up-front pricing. Until we can line up an authorized Sony dealer as a DV Info Net Community Sponsor that we can refer people to, the safest bet of all is to go with B&H.

I would be doing you a serious disservice by allowing anything else.

Unless forum moderator Mike Rehmus has additional input or other dealer recommendations, this topic remains *closed* -- many thanks,
