The models named there do not include the PD170, only up to PD150.

As far as operation of the camera, there is little difference between the 2. The main differnce in operations is the 170 has a 24 step iris wheel and the 150 has a 12 step wheel. To the best of my knowledge and information that is the only difference.
The DSP of the 170 is better but thats an internal thing and of course the audio is supposed to be better than the 150 but thats something you'd need to "play" with anyway.

I think the 150 manual would get you started.
