Sony/Canon Playback Help

Forum people have been helpful in advising DV tapes recorded on Canon would have problem playing back without errors on Sony (issue seems to be head misalignments). However, I may not have been specific enough in asking if that happens to tapes recorded in both LP and SP mode. I mentioned this issue to local camera store source who teaches courses on DV camcorder use and often switches tapes from Canon to Sony and vice versa. He said problem does occur with tapes recorded in LP mode but he has not yet seen it with tapes recorded in SP mode-- not that it won't occur but he has not seen it. I may want to buy Canon GL2 and interchange tapes at times with Sony. Would appreciate shared experiences now that I am more specific with SP vs LP. Thankyou.

Very seldom will a tape recorded in LP mode play back properly on any camera other than the one that shot it. This is true for pretty much all makes and models, not just Canon. Hope this helps,
