PD150 Frame rate

I am about to start logging my PAL PD150 footage on Avid Pro and want to know what timeline frame rate to choose.

Yes it is.

Laszlo Bodo September 1st, 2006 12:16 PM

It is 50i.

Jarrod Whaley September 1st, 2006 12:51 PM

Laszlo's right. 25i would be an interlaced 12.5 frames per second.

Simon Antoniou September 2nd, 2006 04:23 AM

there was not an option for 50i, just 25i.

25 interlaced frames per second means 50 fields of half resolution per second put together in 25 full resolution frames. Right?

(make sure you flag lower (=even) field first)

50 interlaced fields with the PAL PD150. If you switch it into the progressive mode you get a motor-drive still camera taking 12.5 full resolution frames per second to tape, with full stereo sound.

Don't use the NDs, just up the shutter speed. I got some great shots of swimmers and divers using this technique, and I was shooting at 1/600th sec at f/5.6. Any frame can be printed 6" x 4" and you're easily able to catch the peak of the action with such a high frame rate.

tom.
