Problem with Shotgun Mic
 

I just got my PD150. I have a Azden SGM-2 Shotgun mic that I love. I tried to manuever the mount to get the mic inside the existing mount, however it still peaks into the viewfinder.

I know B&H makes a new Microphone Bracket that may solve my problem but cost is $120+

Any ideas?

I use the Azden SGM1X with a VX2100 and I am concerned about the mic casting a shadow from my on camera light. I looked into the Rycote hot shoe extender from B&H. The 4" model wouldn't quite be wide enough, and the larger one was too big and $68 (B&H # RYHSEXL).
I decided to get a product from MIC-EZE (B&H #MIFE5) that has a clamp on both ends and a 5" gooseneck. I plan to attach the clamp to the camera's handle and bring the mic clear from the light. As I am using this set up for tripod shoots, It should't cramp my style too much.

can you pull the mic back to the neck (the front end of the battery compartment)? You might need a longer cable but it should work. I had the same problem when I had my ME66 on the 150 ESPECIALLY with a WA lens attachment-until I got the CAC 12 mic mount. Of course THAT's more than $120.00 but worth every penny. I've used it on my 150s, my JVC5000 (with some mods) and my DSR250. Don't leave home without it!

Thank you for all your help. Last week I ended up moving the microphone back. It is very hard to access the on/off switch for the microphone, but I will just have to deploy it prior to putting it on.

I used a little electrical tape to help hold it in firm! Works like a charm. I checked out the CAC 12 and it was exactly what I was looking for, but a bit pricey!

All i need now is a good suggestion for a tripod and I'm all set!
