Final Cut Capture Settings VX2100

I can't figure out if my capture settings should be for 4:3 or 3:2 when capturing video on my VX2100 into Final Cut. When I export video from Final Cut as quicktime files they are always stretched out horizontally during playback. However, if I use in turn export the file once more using quicktime (to reduce the file size for uploading onto ifilm), the new file looks just fine. Likewise if I burn the original quicktime file onto a DVD, DVD Studio Pro converts the file to an mpeg just fine and the DVD is of the proper ratio. I feel like the file exports from Final Cut 3:2, but during Quicktime playback it stretches it to 4:3. What's the deal?

IIRC, Apple uses the term "3:2" in a misleading way. Use the DV-NTSC easy setup for capturing with your VX-2100. The problem you're seeing has to do with the fact that Quicktime deals with square pixels but NTSC video has rectangular pixels. So playing the 720x480 Quicktime video on your computer monitor will always appear stretched horizontally. To view on a computer screen you need to export at 640x480 (or any other multiple of 4/3, like 320x240). But this has nothing to do with capture...
