CineAlta Technical Certification in Portland

On February 26th Sony will be bringing their full featured Hollywood CineAlta certification class to Portland. In this class you will go hands on shooting RAW 4K with the Sony F55 camera. There will be a "movie set" with live model, lighting and more. After shooting you will take the RAW files and learn about RAW file maintenance and post workflow. This will include full 3-stage color grading in Resolve. In the end your "film" will be projected using a 4K cinema digital projector. This 2 hour course is FREE. For more details please visit the website Production Cameras, Camera Accessories | Portland, OR | Shows

A 2 hour course to learn how to correctly shoot raw, bring it in to post and grade it. At the end you get certification! Wow, it normally takes me a day to cover just the shooting side.

Appreciate it's free and obviously it going to be an interesting insight into the workflow, but 2 hours to get some kind of certification on a system as sophisticated as this. There's so much to cover, log v linear, scene referenced and ACES, LUT's & Looks, EI gain, LUT generation, Exposure tools and focus aids, 2K v 4K and the OLPF.......

Scary, your looking for a DP to shoot with an F5/F55 and someone comes along who is certified on the camera by Sony after just 2 hours.

Alister, I was thinking the same thing when I read this post a few days ago. Two hours isn't even enough time to scratch the surface.

Worst case scenario is giving the participants a false sense of confidence with these intricate tools. Thus possibly creating "knowing enough to be dangerous".
