Shooting mode advice - best for PAL & NTSC
Paul Joy Paul Joy is offline January 4th, 2009, 11:43 AM

Hi all.

I'm shooting an archery DVD next week and need some help in choosing the best EX1 format to record in. From my experiments I'm thinking about using 1080/50i HQ because after going through compressor and outputting via DVD Studio Pro the image looks better than anything I've shot progressive, plus the additional perceived framerate just seems to work better with an instructional DVD.

The problem I have though is that the client also wants to sell this DVD in the US, so I'm assuming I'm going to need to create an NTSC version. I've never had to shot for both formats before so would welcome any advice on the workflow required using the EX1 and FCS on a mac.

Many thanks

Paul.

Shoot in NTSC, this is compatible with PAL tv. But PAL is not compatible with NTSC tv.

The quality losss is minimal 720x480 (NTSC) v 720x576 (PAL)
