MOTION DETECTOR that will trigger the SONY EX1 Camera ??

Hello there everyone.

I hope you're all lining up a great Holiday Season.

Since the Infrared remote allows remote operation of the Sony EX1 Camera from a distance, does anyone know of a devise, or does anyone have the capabilities for making a devise, that will trigger the infrared remote or the camera itself via a "motion detector" ?

In other words, we have a special project coming up, where we need to lock the camera down in a location, and have it shoot only when a motion detector triggers it.

I don't know if something like this already exists or will have to be built, but we need it nevertheless.

Any help or advise is appreciated.

Thanks.

You will likely have to build that yourself.

See if this video gives you any inspiration for the project:

Thanks for the video reference, Chris. I was truly Laughing Out Loud! :-)

If one really wanted to make a DIY sensor and camera trigger with passive-infra-red (PIR), you could simply get something like one of these: PIR Motion Sensor - SparkFun Electronics No need to disassemble anything in your house (or your car).

Not as clear what it takes to start/stop an EX1. Certainly you could feed the proper Lan-C code into the remote jack. But it would take writing a little code into a microcontroller (like Arduino, etc.)
