There are quite a few companies and products introducing SXS as their recording medium, some quite "high-end, such as the ARRI Alexa. Other are the AJA Ki Pro, and the new JVC cameras. It might be a sick puppy, but it's not a dead duck, and won't be for a while.

Remember, there are tens of thousands of units out there.

Firmware Version 1.30 for the EX1 and EX1R is said to add support for XQD. Albeit it may be USB based support.
