Fast Moving Sports a Problem?
 

I shoot all kinds of fast moving action from snowboarding to dirtbiking. Lots of shots are in tight to the subject. I had problems with the Sony HDV due to excessive motion blur. I have been using a HVX-200 at 30p and high shutter rates with good sucess. The question is how well with this camera handle fast moves at 720 30p? Also we are editing in FCP6 and have had no issues with the DVC-Pro codec. Will the GOP codec be as user friendly for editing? What do you guys think?

It sounds like the HVX200 is working for you.
You may want to hold on to the HVX200 longer.

I like the HVX200's ability to render nice colors. It looks good.

I'm hearing that the Discovery HD allows XDCAM HD 35mb footage as a full 100% acquisition format. That speaks a lot for the XDCAM codec.

You will have to wait to get your hands on some EX1 MXF files and put it through your vigorous tests to see how it holds up.
That's what Discovery did.
Add this to a camera head that is capable of 1000 lines of rez and you've got quite the package.

Thats good advice. We always looking for more quality so if it holds up to the shooting we do I think I will make the switch.

and don't forget you can shoot 720p60 which wil probably give you nice slo-mos and take up a lot less "card releastate" than the same setting on the HVX.

You'll also have the option to shoot a very nice 1080p30 which should also be nicer than the HVX at that frame size let alone 720p30
