OverCrank/UnderCrank Monitoring

I tested and going component out to my gateway monitor I was able to view both 720 and 1080 in all Format/frame rate
combinations from 1 frame per sec up to 60 FPS. At the same time as the lcd.

Christopher Barry November 24th, 2007 04:44 PM

Chris, great news! So, is HD-SDI output confirmed as no go for under/overcrank?

Chris Forbes November 24th, 2007 04:48 PM

No, right now I don't have the ability to use HDSDI. I had it up and running at another forum members house yesterday (hey Barlow). But we ran out of time to test it.

Wobble

Presuming the same pan "rate," do you see more wobble at 24/25p than 60/50p overcranked and played back at 24/25p? (A slow motion trial...you could use your NLE to create the slomo or you could overcrank) Or do you see any wobble so far in your shots?

Chris Forbes November 25th, 2007 11:58 PM

I don't know what you mean by "wooble".

The rolling shutter effect is what I think he's saying. Sony claims a higher speed sensor but what I saw on a different thread contradicts that.

wobble

Yes I'm talking about the rolling shutter several other threads refer to it, some as possible disaster others poo-pooing it more or less... Do moving objects seem to "bend" or with camera pans do stationary objects bend? See here:
http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=108430

You can destroy any take by hand-holding it poorly, but if buildings bend or droop now that's a problem.

Chris Forbes November 26th, 2007 12:54 AM

I really haven't seen anything like that, but I haven't looked. But I will look.
