EX1, Matrox Axio, and Premier Pro

Does anyone out there have any way to test the workflow using EX native clip files with PPro with the Matrox Axio? I plan on buying this system soon, if it all flows together. Any thoughts would be helpful.

Tom.

Thomas, I haven't had time (or rather my Sony dealer didn't have time) to check out the Axio yet (as promised in another thread). However my Sony dealer is very much interested to find the best solution to edit footage from the EX1 using either the RT2 or the Axio. At the moment the RT2 does not support the 1920x1080 and I doubt very much whether Matrox will upgrade it. If they do it becomes almost like the Axio, which will not make sense. So personally I am a bit weary to buy something that is not capable of editing the footage straight from the box today. I've had this problem with the Digisuite and Speed Razor when I first started editing DVCAM 10 years ago - I did not have firewire input for a long period of time!

According to the Matrox web site, the Axio supports, amongst other resolutions, 1080i 25, 29.97 and 1080p 23.98, 24, 25. There is no mention of any 1080 50 or 60 options. This make me wonder whether one has to render the footage at these resolutions.

So I to am eager to know about the Axio capabilities. Using Premiere Pro on its own, without any hardware results in time wasting rendering process. If Matrox is not able to offer us a solution then I would be inclined to switch on to mac + FCP as this seems to work with no problems.
