We were on the lower deck a LONG was from the action. I'd say over 30 yards. Camera specifics are unknown. I'm not sure if this was at +9 gain.
It might of been.

Nice footage! Freeze-framing on the quicker pans shows a little slant on the uprights but the skew is not noticeable unless you are really looking for it.

Cheers, Nick

Yes,
I saw that too.
I can tell you I was on the tele end of the lens having to keep up with them running full speed down field.

The resolution makes me want to see more and more footage recorded with this cam. Thanks Steven.

Amazing. Worlds away from 1/3" cameras (especially my FX1). XDCAM EX... what a beautiful thing...

Steven - Did you do the slow motion in post, or did you use the overcranking feature of the camera? I saw that your text overlay indicates it was shot at 720/60p, so thinking it might be post.

I was expecting that you'd be able to shot in 720/30p and push a button to quickly turn on overcranking, then be able to quickly turn it off, but there doesn't appear a way to do this without having to navigate through the menus. Or, did I miss something? (I know you could use the Sel/Set button on the top to set the frame rate, but it seems as though you have to do it manually and increment/decrement by 1fps to get)

Steven Thomas December 8th, 2007 08:02 AM

Brent, I did it in post. There's no quick way to instantly go from 30P to 60P.
This is true with other cameras. If anything it appears faster than others.

Brent Ethington December 8th, 2007 09:09 AM

Steven - thanks. Would be nice if you could assign turning S&Q mode on/off to one of the buttons (even if not practical to use it on the fly, it's a pain now navigating through the menus...)

Just got my ex1 and next week we're shooting a double 30-second PSA. Part is live action, part is scripted. I'll try to remember to post the footage into this thread.
