EX1 fast motion test footage please...

Can anyone out there that has an EX1 shoot some Motocross or even fast moving cars for that matter in 35Mb HQ with a shutter of 1/500 to 1/1000 and perform a couple of Pans and post the footage...? Thanks it would be very much appreciated! I am going to order my Camera in Feb but just want to see how it handles this type of footage in the Real World instead of speculation. So far out of the footage that I have seen there has not been any real fast motion or should I say faster motion.

I want to see how the footage turns out...Hopefully no artifacts or Rolling Shutter skews.

Jason,
Here's a clear example of the EX1 skew.
It was shot at 720 60P and slowed down about 4 seconds into the footage.
Look at the back posts for skew, it's there. If you're OK with this, you'll be fine for this type of event. I was over 100 feet away on the tele end of the lens. I had to pan fast to keep up with the action. That night I was whipping the camera around.

I'd like to thank Maxim from Aerialsfilm for hosting this clip.

Thanx for posting that footage, Steve. Looks like a non-issue AFAIK.

Jason Bodnar January 17th, 2008 07:16 PM

Steve, Thanks for that clip, I tried to watch it a while back but the link was not working for me. I just watched it and that is nothing, All the talk surrounding the skew had me worried but that footage is very nice! I can not wait to get my hands on this camera.

thanks...

I have been using a V1U which i guess has the same (or worse) issue as its CMOS as well. I have never noticed it...

But I was being to worry about my investment in the EX1. Your footage makes me feel that it is a non-issue for me.

I do wonder how the EX1 will react to be used in a helicopter (without a gyro)...

Indoor motocross (supercross) action:

http://www.palsomedia.com/motocross/

- 1080i60
- 1080p24
- 1080p30
- 720p60

+3 gain on the 1080 shots, and +6 gain on the 720p60 shot.

Looks good, thanks Bernard.

Bernard, Thanks much for posting these clips. They look great! Where is that track?

David Lorente January 21st, 2008 08:10 AM

Thank you for sharing this, Bernard. I don't see any skew, squeeze, or the other evil rolling shutter artifacts, so I definitely sign up in the CMOS sensors fan list :D

Over cranked kite surfing

Here are a few clips I shot yesterday of some kite surfing in Florida. Not much quick panning but some fairly quick action. I did a helicopter shoot today of a 60 mile kite race. I will post some footage when I have a spare moment.

good stuff there charles. did you use an extender? you got some nice close action. Manual focus? What about white balance?

would be really keen to see from the heli - you use a gyro or not? It will be interesting to see how the cam deals with the vibrations.

thanks.

Charles!

Beautiful footage!

What settings did you use for the slo-mo shots? (if you don't mind?)
