EX1 and Brevis35 Video
I shot some footage today using the EX1 and a Brevis35 adapter with the flip module. I was pleased with the results. I can't post full resolution, but you can watch an H264 version at:

Looks really nice. Forgot to order my step down ring, but when i get it I will probably hook my Brevis up this weekend.
I see just a little vignetting on the lower corners....could probably just zoom a touch. I assume this is with the flip? Makes me happy to see this cause everybody seems to have jumped ship and head to Letus, which doesn't necessarily seem better. |
Really enjoyed it, excellent composition and suitably moody.
What support system were you using? Some of the shots look like the camera was on a boom. regards Paul |
The flip module works well. It's faster in edit (no more flipping images) and I can just use the Sony LCD screen for focus (no more upside down marshall monitor).
I just used a tripod. It's funny how sometimes pans and tilts can look like jib or dolly moves. I did not use any rails. The brevis and the 35mm lens are free. This did not seem to be an issue, but it is heavier with the flip module. Maybe I should buy some rails to be safe? Vignette is a tough thing to set. On a regular HDTV, you don't see it. You do on a file for the web. I could also no see it on the Sony LCD. I wonder how much further I need to zoom in? Is there quality loss when zooming in? I could zoom in in post. That's not pretty full screen, but for a web file, no one would ever know, right? Or maybe I could crop the digital file a bit (I am not sure how to do that in Final Cut Pro). Ideas? The EX1 and Brevis35 make a good pair. The image stays sharp and the camera seems to need less light (than my last camera). I shot everything with a 50 mm Nikon lens. I want to try an 85 next. The trick is to fine a manual lens that is in good shape. |
