idvd footage looks better than compressor/dvdsp
okay im pulling my hair our with this stuff.
i take ex1 hdv footage (25 mbps 1080 60i) and import it into compressor under high quality 90 min setting (change the bitrate to 8.0 cbr) looks like crap on 40" bravia 1080p (looks like vhs really bad) my friend brought a dvd he made with idvd from a canon a1 and played it on my bravia 40" it look great. not as good as sd on tube but blew mine away. what is idvd doing that compressor and dvdsp is not? |
How does this .m2v file look on your Bravia?

how long was your friend's video? It's possible it's using a higher bitrate if the video is relatively short.
EDIT: never mind, I just noticed that you changed the bitrate yourself, so that's obviously not the issue. |
When using compressor make sure you turn on the frame controls and use the best resize filter and add some anti-aliasing (60-80).
