"Elisabeth of Berlin" trailer

Friends-

Here is the first trailer for a production that will end up on PBS stations this fall. Please take a look-

http://www.vimeo.com/926439

The footage on this trailer was shot with the EX1, most of it with the Letus Extreme and a Canon 50mm F1.4 attached. The Vimeo encoding process lifted my blacks quite a bit.

Let me know what you think.

Hi Steve

I thought it was very good. Nice dof and well lit. Perhaps one talking head could have had a little warming. Great subject too.

So far this piece is ungraded- Apple Color kept crashing when I tried to do it- so as I get past this I'll heed your advice to warm David Gushee a bit. Thanks!

Hi Steven, my opinion is almost exactly the same as that of Mark: all the images looked good, the editing was good too (although I thought it could have a bit more variation in people talking, but I don't know anything more of the production), but the colors could benefit from some extra warming.

What were your problems with Color? I can understand if it's frustrating if it crashes. Did you read the release notes of Apple?

Yes, it could use some more variation in speakers, but too many of my interviewees are German speakers! Subtitles wouldn't make for a sexy trailer, methinks. This trailer will be developing over the next month or so.

I have an occasional problem with Color crashing when I drop the timeline onto a clip I want to work with. That's all- no rhyme or reason.

Thanks for posting this, I really enjoyed it and it serves as a very good example of what the EX1 can do.

I did see some color artifacting in some of the interview shots along with the scene being a little too soft for my tastes, but in reality, these are minor and this is done quite well. Very professional. Thank you!

what a professional looking piece, i loved the colours, the dof and especially the pacing of the editing. Great stuff

The color artifacting could be from the two recompressions required to get it online. The original footage really looks great. Yes, the Letus softened things quite a bit, but my complaint about the EX1 is that without the Letus it's REALLY sharp- perhaps too sharp. Thanks for your compliments.
