EX1: Letus EX vs Letus Ultimate

Hi Guys,

First of all i want to say thanks to all that contribute to this board. It is a fantastic resource, and has helped me decide to part with my hard earned on an EX1.

Although i am tempted to wait for the EX3, i have a large project that i need to get started on in the next couple of weeks and so have decided to bite the bullet and get the EX1. My main intention is to run some nice primes on it through a LEX/Ultimate and so (for the time being at least) i will have to do without the interchangeable lens system of the EX3.

After settling on the EX1 I have moved onto the next conundrum. Do i purchase a LEX now? Or do i find a rental place for a LEX/something similar for this current project and save my purchasing pennies and wait for the ultimate?

If Mr Bloom or anyone who has had the chance to compare the two could give me some kind of feedback it would be greatly obliged. If it is a case of holding on and just renting an adapter for the time being would you suggest using a higher end P+S adaptor (compatible with ex1?)? If not, do you know of any places that rent LEX's?

Any help and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Nick Papworth

Just an FYI on purchasing a LEX, there is currently a 3-4 week wait on getting one.

Here is a place that rents EX1's and LEX:

But with a little ingenuity you can reach out to resellers like Zacuto, ask how many Letus units they are expecting on the next shipment, where you would be on the waiting list with the reseller and then be willing to pay about $40 more to have it sooner than you would by going directly to Letus. 3rd party resellers will always be ahead of you on the waiting list, so as for myself I just went with the flow. My wait was 1 week. Well spent monies in my book. Good luck with your project.

Thanks Steve,

Am aware that is not out yet as per my question. Do i buy the EX or rent something in the mean time and wait for the ultimate?

Also in terms of renting i am obviously looking for somewhere in the UK.

Ta

Rent to see if it is right for you and than purchase the Ultimate if you like the results of a 35mm adapter.
