EX1 and Shutter speed

I am learning to shoot Weddings and other events as a part time business. I am new to the EX-1 and would like to know what settings would be best for these type of events. 30p or 60I and what shutter speed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In general the shutter is set to 180 degrees, which gives you 1/60 for 30P and 60i. This is necessary if shooting with mains powered lights, to avoid flicker, and can use 1/120 also in those circumstances. If flicker isn't an issue (daylight, DC or high frequency lights) then you may use whatever you think gives you best artistic outcomes. Slower than 1/60 for motion blur, for example. You can turn the shutter off (1/30 sec) to gain an extra stop. Whether you should shoot 30P or 60i (or HDV) may be related to client needs, and HDV will give you more shooting time on the cards (25 Mb/s instead of 35 Mb/sec).
