1080/24p SP Importing as 29.97
 

Hi there,

I've searched for this thinking that someone else must have had this problem, but cannot find it anywhere.

We've shot some stuff on the EX in 1080/24p SP. Unfortunately, when we go to import it into FCP via XDCAM Transfer software version 2.7, it comes up in the clip browser as 59.94(23.98p) for frame rate (instead of 23.98p when we shoot in HQ), and when we ingest it into FCP it comes out 1080i60 at 29.97.

In the XDCAM 2.7 clip browser it also says "video codec HDV 1080i60" - can I change this somewhere?

Anyone have any idea where I have a setting wrong?

I believe 1080p24 SP is 23.98 embedded in 29.97.
Take a look at page 53 of the EX1 manual and note that it describes the time code going to 29 in that mode whereas in HQ it goes to 23. See Page 125 of the manual under Recording/playback formats.

It indeed is - to properly preview the SP 24PsF in Vegas, the project needs to be 1080/60i with pulldown removal.

Thanks guys - unfortunately I seem to have misplaced my manual. Can anyone give a suggestion how I should go about doing the pulldown to get back to the 1080/24p I thought I was originally shooting in? I need to cut this with some XDCAM 330 35mps 24p footage.

Okay, I've figured out the problem. Now i just need the solution. When I try to reverse telecine or conform this footage in Cinema Tools, in order to get back to native 23.98 it skips the files with a log error saying "this footage has temporal compression".

How can I get around this? Should I be doing this in FCP.

Again, I need to be able to cut this footage with native 23.98p footage from an XDCAM 330.

Try After Effects, Shake or Combustion.

Don't know why you deleted that clip? I used AE and it fixed it perfectly. Pain in the butt to do it to hours of footage, but it will do the trick.
