Back focus thread?
I seem to remember there was a thread about how to identify if you have a back focus problem and also (could be the same thread) one on how to fix it using the engineering menus but I can't find them. Where they deleted? Could anybody point to them? Thanks.

Adam Wilt has writen an article on the PVC site with instructions. Also the EX3 and Z7 have a similar procedure that are described in the respective manuals. Although with the EX1 the FB adjust function is in the service menu, you should adhere to the Sony procedures outlined for FB adjust in the forementioned manuals. There's a lot of "hype" in the forums' older posts as there was no established/documented procedure and people were trying to find what worked for them. George/ |
Thanks. I tried but couldn't find Adam Wilt's article with the procedure to adjust the back focus on PVC.
I will see if I can download the camera manuals you mentioned. |
Micheal.
Go to my vimeo channel www.vimeo.com/paulkellett I have a demo on there of how to adjust the backfocus. Paul. |
The PVC link to Adam's article is here: http://provideocoalition.com/index.p..._explained/P1/
In step 8 Adam suggests repeating the adjustment for all ND settings. You should not do that. There is just 1 Look Up Table (LUT) in the camera for the FB. I use ND1 as per the Z7/Z270 manual, but the EX3 manual doesn't mention any specific ND setting. Since this is not an official Sony published solution, the ND setting is not clear. All I can say is that I use ND1 and that works well. I've also tried ND off and that seem also ok. My conclusions is that it probably doesn't matter much if you use ND1 or ND off. George/ |
