EX-3 Unpacking Photos

Some snaps of unpacking my EX-3

Also have some side-by-side and comparison shots with the EX-1

And note that the EX-3 fits very nicely in the Petrol PDRB-3 (the "Doctor Bag")

Is it just me or is the current trend with 'unboxing' a little fetishistic? :) Looks hot Ned. :)

Properly done, a well-documented "unboxing," such as Ned's here, can be most useful to show others exactly what they should expect when they receive their own cameras. Only one or two unboxing sequences are really needed though. When everyone starts doing them, that's when it gets a little... er, ah... strange.

Ned Soltz July 29th, 2008 10:41 PM

Yes... important point, Chris.

Just wanted to show what folks should expect in the box but mostly wanted to show a comparison of EX-1 and EX-3 as well as to highlight the Petrol bag.

Im waiting for an unboxing film to be made, complete with stripper music soundtrack. :D

Just out of curiosity, Ned, what is the version of the firmware on your EX3?

Thanks.

Hello, do you found defect or dead pixels on the LCD/wievfinder?

Not yet. But I've only had it out of the box less than 12 hours ;)

Just curious if the EX3 packaging was as much of an "origomi" structure as was the EX1. There was NO way I would be able to put my EX1 back into that packaging once it was out of the box! ;-)

Thaz one sexy dual u have there... oooohhh I'm ssoOOOoo envious...

Andy Wilkinson July 31st, 2008 10:14 AM

In fact the "origami experience" (alas performed without stripper music!) caught me out when I unboxed my EX3 today. I checked the box, satisfied myself I had removed all items then about 30 minutes later thought about the cheek support...where was it? Low and behold still hidden away in the many folded box sections of the internal origami creation there it was!

Mind you, having found it I doubt I'll use it - camera sits so well on my shoulder without it anyway and it looks to me very much like an afterthought. But experience will tell if it is useful or not.

Cheek support looks like such a nightmare to install that it hardly seems worth the effort. Yes, it is tucked into the top packing element.

When I got my EX1, I couldn't find the AC line cord that plugs into the power adapter. I was convinced that I would find it tucked inside one of the many folds of that silly packaging but it was not to be found. I had to get one overnighted to me as the batteries weren't going to last much longer than that on their factory charge.
