XS8X4AS-XB8 lens

Does anyone have information on the XS8X4AS-XB8 lens? It is mentioned in the XDCAM EX brochure (sorry, no link - it was emailed to me) as being specifically designed for the EX3, using the EX lens mount.

A Google search brought up this link:
http://www.ecat.sony.co.jp/business/...KM=XS8x4AS-XB8

Anybody know anything about this?

Looks interesting! About £1900... well in the UK that'll probably be more like £3K or £4K!

What is 4 mm equivalent to in 2/3"? is it 1.3x?

Nice find Mark! I believe this is the 8x 'wide' lens that has been suggested will become available in the coming months. 35mm equivalent of 21.5~173mm. Or equivalent FoV (at wide end) as adding something like a 0.7x adapter to the stock lens.

I'm guessing this is something that may surface formally at IBC (or perhaps a little before?).

Awesome, I'm excited to see it. Any idea if there are more lenses in the works?

I saw this demonstrated at a Sony EX3 Demo a few weeks ago. Amazingly wide and distortion free from what I could tell. You can get four people in the shot only a metre away.
It has x8 zoom and is supposed to be available in Japan as of this month for 400,000yen which is $4000. I want to hack saw off my EX1 lens and put this one on.
