Nice work Brian.

I'd say what we need to find now is a card that works as good (or better) than the Kensington and also allows the EX1 memory door to close.

Thanks again.

Anyone tried the Pro Epresss 7 in 1 reader with Transend 8gb or Sandisk 16gb Extreme ?

If your talking the AFT Proexpress card, it does not work at all with the new Extreme III 16GB.

Hi Joe,

After I posted I did read somewhere that the Sandisk didn't work.

It's funny that these manufacturers would produce to an Expresscard standard but not bother about one of the dimensions. ie the Kensington is too long as well.

thanks anyway.

Actually all expresscards are all the same length 75mm.

It's the SDHC media that may stick out to far in some, such as the Kensington.

I believe there are only 4 to 5 manufacturers of the adapters. The spring loading type will allow you to close the door on the EX1 , But none work with the EX1 so far.

I am ordering another
Kensington 7 in 1 Media Reader for ExpressCard Slot" model number 33407EU.
3 more Trendsend 8bg SDHC cards and 2 Sandisk SDHC Extreme III 16gb cards. Already own 4 16gb Sony SXS cards. I will wait until there is a major price drop to order more Sony or Scandisk SXS cards. I am Done testing for now..I think...lol

Thanks Brian.

The SIIG 11-in-1 expresscard card (spring type) does not work because it's not SDHC capable.
Fry's Electronics has this card. Fortunately I only live 30 minutes from a Frys! LOL

SIIG's web site shows a 12-in-1 that list SDHC, so if it has the "spring type" (known as : pusp/push) and it works of course, the EX1 memory door should close with the SDHC media inserted.

The odd thing is I can not find the SIIG 12-in-1 anywhere. AND most important, the number they list for the new SIIG 12-in-1 is the same number on their 11-in-1 that does not work.

I've written to them regarding this problem.

Sorry Brian,
I did not understand your response.

Did you try the SIIG 12-in-1 (not the 11-in-1)?

Could you write the make and model of the exact expresscard R/W adaptors you just tried so I don't make the mistake of buying these?

Brian, shoot me a private message so we do not go against forum policy about non Sponsors.

Hi Steve,

Can the SDHC card be "trimmed" by the 1mm or so needed to fit?

So, it seems none of these solutions (so far) are going to work with the EX3 in HQ mode, is that correct?

Ted...
I do not own the EX3, but I do own the EX1.

I'm on DAY 3 of testing the following combo that work in all EX1 HQ modes (No S&Q).
I have "yet" to have ANY errors!

1, Kensington 7-in-1 Media Reader $ 36 (USD)
1, SanDisk Extreme III 16GB 30MB/s version $129 (USD)

LOL,
Maybe yours! LOL..
Just kidding..

The door issue is not a show stopper. Afterall, when using Sony's new video capture drive you have to leave the door open.

Also, I can only imagine it will not be long before we find an expresscard adaptor with the needed push\push spring type media socket that will work with the EX1. This type of socket allows the SDHC card to sit real low in the adaptor.

The AFT has this feature, but does not work with the EX1.

Day three testing the expresscard adaptor / Extreme SDHC in the EX1:

1, Kensington 7-in-1 Media Reader $ 36 (USD)
1, SanDisk Extreme III 16GB 30MB/s version $129 (USD)

No issues recording or playing any of the HQ or SP modes (No S&Q)
