Ross,
please email me the link to the working card.

You will have to send a private message since ebay links are not allowed.
thanks

initial format errors

My Kensington 7-in-1 Expresscard 34 arrived today (my Sandisk 16GB Ultra II SDHC card arrived at the weekend).

Put it all in slot 1 of my EX3, closed the door .... :-) and then turned the EX3 on. So far so good.

Then I got a message asking me to format the card so I did. Then I got a "media error, cannot format" type error.... :-(

Turned it off, unplugged everything, re-mounted everything and after 3 unsuccessful goes at this it finally formatted successfully. EX3 now shows 58mins available in slot 1 ...back to :-) !!!!

Recorded a few quick clips and everything now seems to be OK. I'll certainly put it through it's paces before I'll trust it with an hours worth of important clips though.

Did anyone else get a worrying introduction to using SDHC like this?

Hope all goes well for you Andy. Why did you chose Sandisk, I thought Kensington 7-in-1 and Transcend was the working combination.

I've only used the Kensington reader.

I've used both the SanDisk Extreme III 16GB card and the SanDisk Ultra II 16GB card.

I'm waiting to receive shipment on the SanDisk VideoHD 16GB card and the Transcend 16GB card.

Ross - How large is the Hong Kong-made adapter? Does it allow for EX1 door to be closed?

If link is not allowed (??) then please provide a search phrase to find the item.

Thanks!

Just received my Kensington 7-in-1 from Amazon.de,
made in China, waiting for Transcend and Sandisk SDHCs. Will report if any errors occur.

Again, the Kensington+Transcend combo has worked flawlessly for me so far. You can't beat the price!

With a fresh un-formatted SD card you need to switch the camera on then insert the adapter with the card already in it into the camera and then format it. I think the camera gets a little confused when you power it up with an unformatted SD card already in it.

Be sure you buy your SD cards from reputable sources as there are an awful lot of fakes out there. They might appear to work but could prove un-reliable later.

I've got 2 SDHC combos with the Sandisk Ultra II 16GB cards and 2 Kensingtons. (Amazon UK)

One works brilliantly, even with overcranking at 50 fps(is it meant to?), and the other is a little bit tempermental - about 3 times now has given me the needs to restore message. Swapped around the cards and Kensingtons and it seems to be the card not the reader. Will keep testing as obviously don't trust it yet.

My two Transcend cards arrived today. They are performing well. Each one asked to be formatted, then was ready in two seconds.

Express card readers

Hi Alex,

It sticks out as well, sorry about that.

I found mine on Australia's ebay, add ".au" on the end of the US one, then search for expresscard readers, mine came from the Philippines, if that helps you find it.
