Swit Battery with D-Tap working with Modulus

I just wanted to pass along that we are having success with the Swit S-8U62 battery and our Sony EX1 camera:

S-8U62

We are successfully using it it to power our Modulus 3000 video transmitter for sending a SD video feed to an 8" wireless monitor for our directors:

How much are they Steve? Can you charge them in the usual sony charger and how do you know when they are going to run out? Any idea on the run time? Will these questions ever stop?

Yes, you can use them in the usual Sony EX1 battery charger

They have LED battery level indicators

They are rated at 63Wh

Pricing is around $270 in Canada:

I knew swit would do such a thing. This is amazing !!
I want two of them :)

Your link is down, but googleing will give you other links, at least from UK or germany. aroud 150€ for us from europe.
I'll be in San Francisco for the coming 10 days. If someone have a link to a strore having it there, I may buy some, expecting it to be cheaper in $ than in €.

Will it work with EX3?

Joe Lawry December 3rd, 2008 01:29 PM

No, the power cable is too short.

Swit are currently designing a new battery to work with the EX3

Kevin Cates December 3rd, 2008 01:52 PM

Looks like it is available in US for $185 at: Li-ion Battery S-8U62(for Sony PMW-EX1)

Any idea if they charge on the Sony Charger?

Raul Rooma December 3rd, 2008 02:29 PM

Yes!

I just got swit battery for ex1.Sony charger charges it.When i first tryed it out, something was wrong(i was thinking so)...but when you charge this swit battery..the power cord whats goin'g out from battery must be placed in its hole or plug what located on battery himself.

Best Regards

How about their lights?

They have an on-camera LED light and battery package deal currently on their site (for EX1). Has anyone had experience with the light?

Raul Rooma December 4th, 2008 10:04 AM

swit promo package

Hey !

Just got it.Package price was attractive so i purchased it.Battery have output for led light.
So with original sony battery U can't use swit 2000 light. But anyway this battery gives me almost 5 hours recording time with ex1.and with ledlight on almost 2.5 hours.Light have dimmer. Also good option because often i have got with my canons vl10i overexopsed faces. As package was little more than larger sony battery, definitely i reccomend it for ex1 users

Best Regards

This company emailed me from China. They're working on an EX3 solution.

Are you happy with your Modulus, hear a lot of complaints from steadicam guys on that one. Is it constantly in and out.

It's okay - certainly not a high quality, stable feed by any means. But it's adequate as a directors monitor for shot composing and following.
