EX1 to Play Station 3?

So what would be the best way to get quality HD to the PS3? USB, Wireless network, DVD, are all options I would like to exploit. What are the PS3's acceptable file formats?

Thanks

For authored disc formats you can create a Blu-ray disc (BDMV or BDAV), or AVCHD on DVD.

Video File formats...
* Memory Stick Video Format
- MPEG-4 SP (AAC LC)
- H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile (AAC LC)
- MPEG-2 TS(H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, AAC LC)
* MP4 file format
- H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile (AAC LC)
* MPEG-1 (MPEG Audio Layer 2)
* MPEG-2 PS (MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AAC LC, AC3(Dolby Digital), LPCM)
* MPEG-2 TS(MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AC3(Dolby Digital), AAC LC)
* MPEG-2 TS(H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, AAC LC)
* AVI
- Motion JPEG (Linear PCM)
- Motion JPEG (μ-Law)
* AVCHD (.m2ts / .mts)

The only HD disk burner is on my laptop and it is an HD-DVD not BluRay. I am in the market for an external BR or replace the burner in my Toshiba laptop. So USB or wireless is the option at this point, I will need to copy the files to the Harddrive in the PS3.

Charles,
AVCHD is a subset of the Blu-ray BDMV specifications. AVCHD can be written to DVD. Of course, this format has limited play length, due to the higher bitrate. But for shorter programs AVCHD on DVD would give you near Blu-ray quality (AVC at up to 18 Mbit/sec) on an inexpensive medium. PS3 supports AVCHD playback from DVD.

The PS3 also supports reading from an external USB drive, as long as it is formatted with the FAT32 file system. This would allow you more flexibility, and you could author AVCHD with a bit rate of up to 24 Mbit/sec (which should be almost no quality loss from XDCAM).

Thanks Tom, I will have to try the external drive on the PS3. Sounds like what I need.

Don't forget the the PS3 only reads video that is placed in a folder called "VIDEO"
make sure they are all caps. I don't have a EX1 or 3 but my footage from my V1u looks great on the PS3 (I convert the files from Final Cut to the h.264 codec in quicktime pro)
