EX1 footage: text-searchable?

So you have a lot of EX1 footage.

How do you make it text-searchable?

I'd like to somehow tag each clip on my hard drive with keywords, and then be able to find all clips that match my search. Like, "new york night", "helicopter" etc.

(Sorry if this is the wrong thread for this post, all my footage is mostly from EX1...)

While not exactly what you were looking for, Adobe Premiere cs4 will convert all speech to text and will allow searches. See:

Adobe Premiere Pro CS4: Features

In many ways, not just for the use you desired - to locate assets, I believe that this is going to have a profound impact on many aspects of video -

At this point, though, I'm mostly interested in tagging the video myself, since the clips have either no sound or just noise, not speech, in them...

I don't know on which platform you work, but Final Cut Server could do just that because it is made for the purpose of managing your footage and projects (and much more).

FCP can also work with tagging and searching tags but I never tried that myself.

Erwin

Vegas Pro has the Media Manager, which can help in what you're after, Alex.

Very powerfull tool, never really appreciated enough, IMHO.

I've discovered that Adobe Bridge and Picasa do that.

Picasa seems slow when adding a keyword to the video, delaying for up to 10 seconds on my PC for some reason.

Bridge seems almost instantaneous, and I think it has better search options...
