fast / slow motion in camera
 

Im just trying to figure out what are the advantages in using the fast/slow motion in camera rather that creating the same effect in post edit using FCP? it would seem that you would have more control in editing but there must be some kind of advntage doing it directly in camera thus why they have it there.

doing it in camera actually records more (slow motion) / less (fast motion) frames, where as in FCP it only has a certain number of frames to work with, so it just spreads the time in which frames are sean. For small changes, most people wouldn't be able to tell, but for drastic differences, it would look somewhat less than appealing.

Additionally, you have render time in FCP.

If you want to do speed ramping, obviously this needs to be done in post. I would not use native filters for this; Twixtor is the only way to go whether in FCP or AE.

Also, if you want to slow down your in camera slomo you have that much more to play with. You can run a clip at 25% original speed more cleanly if you shot it 60 fps in camera and slowing that 50% as opposed to 30 fps slowed 75%.
