Clip Browser 2.0

After copying a BPAV folder this aftenoon I noticed that the last of the clips was not shown in the browser. I checked the BPAV clip folders and all had the MP4 files except the last one. Just the folder.

I connected the camera USB to my pc and copied the missing clip so problem solved.

This is the first project I have used the Kensington 7-in-1 media reader and Sansa Ultra 16GB SD card (class 2)
Clips filmed at 720P / 50 frames per sec. .

Has anybody seen this?

Broweser glitch? or Kensington reader / Sansa SD card glitch?

What is a Sansa card?

Should have said Sandisk

Greg, Sony's Clip Browser is currently Version 2.00.01. A very minor update and they do not give any information as to what has changed since Version 2.00.00.

I've only had my EX3 for two weeks now and have been using 2.00.01. I have not yet noticed the issue you have.

Thanks for that Barry will check it out.

Maybe they fixed the MXF 720 60p audio problem when imported to Sony Vegas Pro 8c. I had to go back to the 1.01

clip browser 1 and 2

Sony clip browser 2.0 will not work with 720 60p it screws up the audio - you need to go to clip browser 1.1 and it will work.

You will need both versions because 1.1 will not work with time lapse as ver 2.0 will work.

This is not a problem with vegas, but its a problem with the clip browsers.

I uninstalled 2.00.00 and installed 2.00.01.
And it (720p60) now works with Vegas 8.0c.

A question to all that have Clip Browser 2.00.01 installed:

- is it any faster in re-wrapping MP4's to MXF's than the 2.00.00 version?

Of course, I could install and check for myself, but this would require un-installing (and possibly reinstalling again, if the 2.00.01 is not faster), my current version 1.01 which is dramatically faster than the first release of version 2.00.00 ...

Answer appreciated...

This and Bill Parker's lost clip thread are very disturbing. Craig and others--as well as the Sony Manual--insist that using Clip Browser is better than Finder/Explorer Copy/Paste, but I'd love it if some computer geek stepped in and explained why that's plausibly the case. Losing faith in Clip Browser is not a good thing.

Craig Seeman November 14th, 2008 11:46 AM

Clip Browser 2 has CRC checking. When enabled it's slower but the data is verified.

I don't think Bill's missing clip has anything to do with Clip Browser. It seems the corruption happened in camera . . . or maybe Clip Browser 1.

Use Clip Browser 2 with CRC or you're gambling with your camera masters.

Yes I know Craig - but it does it when copying/moving clips, and it can be turned off.

What I mean is that it's painfully slow at re-wrapping from MP4 to MXF; do you think it's also due to CRC check (if so, I cannot see how this could be deactivated, though).

Anyway, I'd be grateful if someone compared the MP4->MXF re-wrap speeds of the new 2.0 version and the fist one, i.e. 2.00.00 Tia,

Piotr
