Using the EX1 in Cold Climates

I'm travelling to Antarctica in a couple of weeks.

Does anyone have any experience of using the EX1 in such climates?

I've heard that many (non-EX1) camera users have experienced battery problems, no doubt due to the low temperatures.

All tips and suggestions appreciated.

Covering the race to the pole by any chance? I've had the EX down to -26 and we had some XDCAM (not EX) kit down to -46 last week. No problems except for battery life getting significantly reduced below -20. You will probably need to get some fuel cell batteries if your going to be there for any significant period of time. You get the biggest issues if you try to keep the camera warm and then expose it to the cold, best to let it acclimatise. Small chemical heat packs can be used inside a good cover or use a polar bear.

No, I'm just on a cruise for three weeks.

We won't be going inside the Circle so I don't expect the cold to be too extreme.

Judging by your experiences, I'll probably not have any major problems with the EX1 though.
