Get converted MP4 files originally for FCP into Avid

After my shoot I took my SxS card and transferred the media into Final Cut Pro via XDCAM Transfer. Which created MP4s. Now the editor wants to use Avid. I no longer have the original media.. just the MP4s for Final Cut. I realize I should just back up the Bpav folders.. but since I can't do that now..

Is there anyway to take the created MP4 files and create MXF for avid?

Thanks in advance,

James

Hi James,

If you have the original files still with the MP4 extension you can open them with the Sony Clip viewer and convert them to MXF. If you have the FCP converted MOV files AND a MAC with FCP then you can export them from FCP to MXF (this is only a rewrap and not a transcode so there is no gen loss). You do this directly from FCP and not in compressor.

If you have the FCP MOV files and no MAC then follow the instructions here - http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/sony-xdca...s-windows.html

One of these methods should work to get you going.
