zoom speed

When I set the slow zoom speed at '1' on my EX3 I get a non-constant zoomspeed... As if the zooming sometimes stops, and is hesitating... Strange... Anybody experiencing the same also?

When I set that slow zoom speed at '2', I get an even, 'creeping' zooming, as it should be.

Top zoom handle bug, a known fault, some EX1's have had it effect up to about 5 i think so you'rs isn't to bad if it's ok at 2.

Don't forget that you can do a really "super slow creep type zoom" in post if need be without loosing much resolution - and of no consequence if eventually downressing for web or Std Def DVD. I use this technique all the time.

I too have dealt with this issue on our EX-3. I have dialed down the zoom speed on the Bebob and gone into the camera menu and done same. The results are less than pleasing or consistant. I don't want to have to use the 18X Fujinon lens purchased for the camera whenever I might want a slow zoom. I wonder if their are any controller combos that are giving users better results?

My EX1 had a similar issue with zoom handle below 10. Sony replaced the camera. 2 works smooth, 1 steps a bit.

When I sent EX1 in to Sony (Feb 2008) they tried replacing the lens first and that didn't fix the issue so they replaced the camera. This might be significant given you have an EX3. It probably means that it's not a lens issue so much as something in the camera's communication. It's also significant that Sony could not fix it at all.

If it's happening at 1 only (try 2) then what you're seeing is the same as my replacement camera. Originally I was seeing this at around 10.

As said, '2' works fine, 1 steps a bit, as you described. Not a real big issue for me, but still somewhat surprising...
