Picture Profile for Infinite White

I'm shooting on infinite white, and the EX3 seems to be compressing the image so that nothing is over 100% - I've got several shades that the camera's meter measures as ranging between 100% and 106%, yet once in my NLE (Vegas) it's more like 94% to 100%.

Any suggestions? I want to blow out the background, but the camera is trying to stop me.

I'm using the Standard PP with a few changes, namely set to CINE 3 and with High SAT.

Thanks,

Ted...

I believe Vegas will import everything pegged to RGB16-235, regardless of any "superwhite" values actually recorded. They haven't been clipped, just remapped. You have several options, as I see it. You can go into the Vegas FX and use the "Levels" sliders to exceed 100% IRE. Alternatively, I believe setting project properties to 32-bit float will also allow "native" RGB to fill the 0-255 range.

Ted, have you tried adjusting your levels in Vegas?

Bill,

Changing the project to 32-bit solved it - Thanks! All my superwhites are now... super white.

Thanks
