Large files won't import through XDCAM Transfer
 

I have had my EX1 for over a year now with no problems importing large clips through XDCAM Transfer software. But my last two jobs with large files (.smi clips on the one card, not spanning two cards) the transfer stopped and a message appeared saying that there was an error and that there may not be enough disc space to complete the task. There is over 600gb of space, so I know that's not the issue. Has anyone else struck this, and if so, how did you solve it? I don't want to have to digitise from the camera, which I can only do when I have recorded in HDV anyway.

As an addendum to my previous post, I also tried to create an MXF of the clip in Clip Browser and it failed also. Could it be a problem with the SxS card?

You've tried playing the whole clip, all the way through in the camera? (you could fast forward through it so you don't waste too much time) That would tell you if it's a problem with the clip. Maybe it will stop playing in the camera and you'll get one of those error messages that asks if you want to fix the card. If it plays fine, then there's something wrong with your computer system/software. Have you tried re-starting your system?

I have had this issue too. Unfortunatly I do not remember exactly how I solved it (one should write all solutions somewhere). But I think you should check the preferences of Transfer Tool - where do you save your footage?

I just had a thought. The HDD I am transferring to is formatted FAT32, meaning that it will only handle file sizes up to 4 gb. I think you have helped me solve the issue.

Never would have thought of FAT32. I think we all just learned something.

On PC you want to use NTFS.
