Media Full warning??

Did I miss this?

Say you are only shooting with one card.

Is there a way to get an AUDIBLE warning when media is, say, 99% full?

Otherwise there's only a flashing message on the cam's display, which is easy to miss if you are using an external display to monitor the video on long takes.

if you're shooting film how do you know how much film you have left in the mag?

Matt San April 7th, 2009 11:54 AM

you can always enable the LCD overlay info on the external monitor

You do realize there's a Time Remaining number that tells you how full/empty the card is in the viewfinder right?

See the attached screen grab. It's item #6. A=the amount of time left on Card A and B=the amount of time left on Card B. (I missed this when I first started shooting with our EX3 also)

Most of the time with long takes, I'm not looking at the cam's monitor. Instead, I use external monitor that is NOT overlayed with the data. So I need an audible alert.

Now, I found audio settings for Alarm and Beep and turned them On.

Presumably Alarm will sound on events like battery low/memory low.

Ooops! Sorry, I didn't catch that you were using an external monitor. I'm pretty sure that if you use the composite output (careful with the fragile connector) you'll be able to turn the display on/off using the VF Display on/off button.

You should get audible beeps through your headphones and the rear tally light will flash.

All that's missing are the runway strobes :)

On a 8-hr shoot with non-stop taping of a very static scene, believe me those strobe lights would be useful... heck, why not a disco ball... :)
