New to EX3 and not sure about settings.
I'm sure this has been asked before and I have searched but thought I would ask someone that has used the camera for a while about the recording formats.
I record wedding videos btw and some football matches and output to SD DVD. HQ 1080/50i SP 1080/50i HQ 1080/25p HQ 720/50p HQ 720/25p 1) Which setting is the preferred choice for weddings? 2) Which is best for say, football matches? From a search I think that HQ 720/50p was the better choice for output to DVD. While I'm asking...About the memory A and B modes. The B mode just seams to be set at ATW, If i want to have the two presets does it mean i go into the menu and disable the ATW Its not possible to have all 3 at the one time, is this correct? In my last camera I had the 2 modes and the ATW mode as well) Thanks again. |

It would be worth you getting Doug Jenson's video Vortex Media: VIDEO & PHOTO Tools and Training which will help you up the learning curve. N |
I have ATW assigned to the User button 4 (underneath the lens barrel), and "B" position of the WB switch - to B Memory.
You can find how to do it in the manual. |
Thanks for the reply. I'm getting the training DVDs this weekend, I hope.
I'll look into the PP settings when I get them. Piotr, I'll check that out too. Nick, you said "you definitely want 50i or 50p" for the football, whats the difference in those two. Thanks again. |

You may want to experiment with increasing the shutter speed to reduce motion blur. |
Thanks Nick.

Hi Anthony,
I too am new to the EX3. I shoot Superleague Rugby, and use 720/50p, the slo mo for the try replays is quite acceptable, and I output to DVD, I have the shutter off and also the steeady shot off whilst filming, but for aftermatch interviews flick the steadyshot on. A couple of weeks back, a mate of mine filmed a match on a JVC HM700, one half in 720/50p and the other in 1080/50i and the results, when put onto DVD were virtually indistinguishable. I think its a case of trying and seeing whats best for you. If you use card adapters and 16gb sdhc, you will get a half game per card at least. I do one half on one card, then switch slots. Stuart |
Thank you Stuart for your advice. I haven't recorded a lot yet with my camera, mostly trying to find out a few things about it and now just watching the vortex DVDs but the wee bit I did record and playback was unbelievable, very sharp and thats no PP yet.
Yes I'm using the card adapters and 16gb sdhc. |
