Direct transfer to HD in the field solution
This looks very interesting. Has anyone tried it yet.
Nexto DI - Next Generation Storage with Digital Interface |
I'm waiting for this.
PXU-MS240 Mobile Storage Unit From Sony What do you think the price will be for the unit and for cartridges? |
Wasn't the Sony unit announced with a $2,000 MSRP? (Or am I confusing it with something else?)
Nexto has the NVS2500 coming out which also reads directly from SxS card. I haven't heard anything about estimated price. Pete |
It's far too slow.

This one looks good... I'm hearing it may come in at around $1500... but it does just about
everything for all of my camera work... Nexto DI - Next Generation Storage with Digital Interface and it should be fast |
The Sony MS240 should have a street price around $1500 -- including one 240GB cartridge. Extra cartridges should have a street price around $400.
The other brand might be slow, but the Sony has 10X transfer speed from the card to the drive, and you can connect the unit to your computer via eSATA or USB. |
I wouldn't buy either of these before fully testing them just because the choice is there.

Sony PXU-MS240: "Estimated up to 10X Real Time" 16GB = 1hr real time (approx.) decreased 10x = 6 minutes Nexto NVS2500: 80MB/s = 4.8GB/min = 16GB @ 3.33 minutes Points to consider: Nexto max supported fixed 200GB drive, reported 500GB. "Anticipated" MSRP: $1500 Solid state drive (I think this is important) LCD plays video? eSata Firewire What is the battery solution? So far it looks more compact Sony max supported 240GB swappable` Predicted street price: $1500 Solid state drive? LCD plays video? eSata BPU-30 batteries Productionhub PXU-MS240 NAB2009 video |
I think Paul's comment about it being to slow referred to the OP's question about the Nexto 2725. It is verrrry slow because it connects to the camera via USB and doesn't read the cards directly. The Nexto 2500 has slots for SxS cards.
