The light source is simply the lamp post in my front yard, located about 10 feet behind the web. I tried turning off that light and putting up a KinoFlo, but I coudn' get it looking as good as what I already had before I messed with it. So I went back to the post light. If I had it to do again, and a little more time to prepare, I'd try using a Fresnel. I've noticed on other shoots that Fresnels create a very intersted pattern on back-lit tree limbs (especially when wet), and I'll bet it would work great on a spider web, too.
I just wish it was a less cluttered shot, but the damn spider won't listen to me when I give him directions.
