EX-1 HSFootball Workflow

Working with the EX-1 for High School Football and keep trying to simplify the workflow to make the video more useful for coaches. Trying to figure the alternatives to go from the EX-1 using 16gb MxM to a Sony VAIO laptop with HDMI to a HD projector without any editing except deleting unnecessary clips at the EX-1 level. Looking for suggestions as to the quickest, cheapest way to do this whithout burinng a Blu-ray disk.

2 16GB cards give you nearly 2 hours of record. Is that enough?
Consider 2 32GB cards if you need more time. You want to eliminate card changes during a game.

What bottlenecks are you getting in the workflow?
SxS cards will copy faster but cost a lost more obviously.

Copying the cards and playing is the fastest if the laptop can handle it and you need no editing (other than clip deletion) so without details, I can't make suggestions.

You could get a file media player but that would likely mean a transcode but such player would be less money than a laptop (which you would still need to transcode the file and that would take time).

If it's simply file playback of recorded clips, you're likely as fast as you can get sans SxS cards.

Hi Hal,

How about this?

1) Import from the cards to the Viao
2) Edit with Vegas (if necessary)
3) Playback right from the timeline and output to HDMI

Unless you add several layers of tracks or effects, I think the Vaio will playback pretty smoothly. This avoids any rendering, burning, file transfers, etc.

Having the Viao with built-in HDMI output is very handy.

Oprtion #2:

Use an HD-SDI to HDMI converter and play the cards right out of the camera with no editing.

I have one of these and it works very well.
