This works with my EX3, f-stop, zoom, color temp, all shown in real time. I wonder if this info ends up in the MXF as well?

Here they are thanks to Guy B.

US and Canadians can't log into this Sony website.
Wonder when it will show up in Canada?

The aquisition function of CB 2.6 is a wonderful fuction with all the metadata.
I noticed that some of my shots had the macro function on.....

Works great with the EX1 as well. Flash band removal went very well on some difficult trial clips - its a winner.

The acquisition metadata is fun, though with clips recorded using shot transition, the metadata seems to change abruptly at the end of the transition rather than during it. Editing essence marks is a lot easier.

The manual with the mac download is for v2.5 - anyone worked out what 'Show/Hide Component View', which just gives a grey bar across the bottom of the explorer window, is for?

I simply registered on the Sony UK site and specified whatever country (Andorra, I think) sounded like a cool place to live. US and Canada are not options.

Batch editing of clip metadata is a fantastic addition! A huge time-saver!

Charles Newcomb October 29th, 2009 12:06 PM

Okay. So why have they excluded US and Canadian users from downloading this? What's up with that?

Steve Connor October 29th, 2009 12:25 PM

This is a fantastic update! I assume it's Snow Leopard compatible?

Piotr Wozniacki October 29th, 2009 01:06 PM

Very nice update, with long awaited features. Two questions though:

- when launched, does your CB also opens with all the windows "slipped down" a little, so you need to drag them up each time?

- which metadata does make it to NLE (when answering, please specify which NLE you're using; Vegas unfortunately still cannot see them).

TIA :)

I'm in the US but had to create a, umm, "offshore" user account to get the software. I really don't understand how these guys work. Haven't them made us all wait long enough? Is this Snow Leopard ready?

Peter Eggleston October 30th, 2009 06:20 AM

I agree with many of the criticisms of Sony in this forum (IR contamination, etc.) but now I'd like to praise them. Clip Browser 2.6 is excellent.

If I was being grumpy, I would say that new features such as acquisition metadata should have been there already, but it is so good to have them now, I don't feel grumpy.

Not for me, no.

I use the wonderful Edius (v5.11).
Unfortunately, upgrading Clip Browser to 2.6 removed it from Edius's Capture menu, so I can't test that! I've had to go back to Clip Browser 2.00 until Edius can see it... :-<

Update:

People on the TGV Edius forum have just told me that CB can be used even if it doesn't appear in the menu, by opening both CB and Edius and just dragging files. Others say that 2.6 does appear in their Edius menus. Odd, but I'm back with 2.6 and loving it!

Does anyone have a clue as to whether this info has always been added to the MXF or will be from now on? That's place where it would be most useful, and once editors are updated to parse that information too, then it will have real practical uses.

Mark Twittey November 5th, 2009 12:29 PM

It's a nice update, but as with 2.5 it does not work with Liquid editing systems.
It only imports clips to a max length of 9.15.
Shame...really like some of its features.
