Sandisk Extreme 30mbps cards
 

Just ran some tests on my new sandisk 30mbps Extreme 16gb SDHC cards.

At 720p/24 I was able to run at 45fps for 28 minutes. Aimed at a TV display for continous motion.

After stopping record, green lite comes on in 4 seconds. I tried several times to create a media restore by re-starting record with the red light still on, could not.

With these, I only get 56 minutes on a freshly formatted card.

good to know. what a relief that is to hear. can't wait until i get mine.

What adaptor is that in? I'm guessing it might be an older MxR. If you try a new MxR or MxM you should be able to get higher framerates.

I could fill a card at 48fps with a new MxM and ATP card. I'm guessing the Sandisk cards should be able to do the same or better.

is there any way to tell the difference between the new and old by looks or other features?

I don't have any new MxR's or old MxM's, so I'm not sure of any way to know which versions of each you have other than testing the speed. But I got my MxR's in July/August from a UK supplier and they are the old ones. The MxM's were purchased direct early December and were new.

Personally speaking, my future purchases will be MxM as they seem to have a better range of kit, are selling the ATP cards as bundles and managed to send me cards and adaptors halfway across the world quicker than if I'd selected an economy shipping option from a UK retailer.

However I remain very interested by the Sandisk cards. I may get one in when I see one available. However I suspect I'll be sticking with ATP in the main for now because even if they are slightly slower, they seem to be very reliable in day to day use.
